Just wondering what some people's thoughts are. I am down to these two.

Two totally different vehicles...comparing apples to oranges.

BMW by far if you find yourself a good conditioned used X5 and need cargo room.

Ford Mustang - I would stick with the GT or Cobra and only if you want a muscle car as there this not much room in the rear seats and in the trunk.

If you can afford it look at getting a new 07 BMW 335i or xi when they come out in the new year. Car that has room for 4, AWD if you get the Xi version and will blow the doors off a Mustang GT with it's Twin Turbo V6 that pulls out 300HP at the crank.

Depends on what kind of driving you're going to do. Obviously the X5 is good because of extra seating. Plus BMW's are some of the best cars on the road. German quality is amazing. On the other hand, the new mustangs are sweet, but still an American car. If you go for the mustang, make sure it's a GT. Way more fun.

very different vehicles--if you don't need to tow and you're only seating 2 adults, a Mustang GT would be the choice If you often have 4 adults or do some towing, the BMW would be the choice
(Remember that the BMW will have more expensive repair bills)

The Edge of course! BMW's are expensive to maintain from what I hear. Who cares what your family drives? My family drives Mercury and Fords, I have 2 Toyota's. I want reliability and good MPG. Most Fords are quite reliable, and the Edge should be better on gas than the Explorer. I am probably alive today thanks to my dad making the decision on my first vehicle purchase. I wanted a muscle car and probably would have killed myself in it if I had it. I would encourage you to listen to your parents on this one. Cars are, on the most part, bad investments. The value of a new car drops dramatically when you sign the papers at the dealership. I bought my '06 Tundra new for $18,900 and they will only give me $14,000 for it on trade now and it has only 9300 miles on it and Toyota's hold their value more than most other vehicles.

They are two completely different types of car so it depends what your lifestyle is and why you want it - a good reliable car or a flashy car?

I'm biased towards the BMW since I own 5 myself, so there's my pick.
