Many things are cheaper and many things are the same or more expensive.
It really depends what your after. As a tourist destination, Israel is probally cheaper than some US hot spots.
Jewrly is cheaper in Israel --I came home with some awesome Gold and Silver pieces.
Food is cheap and housing can be whatever you want it to be.
If you create your intinerary prior to leaving there are often many deals/discounts your travel agent can get for you.
Another very important factor--is the current political status at the time of travel.
This also has an effect on prices.

The Israeli shekel is worth less than the US and Canadian Dollar. This makes Israel an attractive place to visit because you get more bang for your buck. Some things are much cheaper than in US and Canada, but things imported are quite expensive. Places to stay, depending on your tastes and desires, range from the very affordable hostels and guest houses to the extravagant and very expensive King David Hotel -of Exodus fame

For one dollar you get approx. 4.20 shekel. Clothing is cheaper in the USA except for real good stuff (designers clothing). Food is cheap in Israel. Hotels - there is a verity of hotels but you can find cheap lodgings if you are not too spoiled. Compared to Europe Israel is cheaper, compared to the USA it is not.

Way, way more expensive, even though 5 US dollars is one shekel. So, if you are an Israeli you pay much more for things than people in many other countries, which is tolerable because of Israel's high standard of living.

Depends what. Fruits and vegetables, for example, are excellent and very low priced.
