If so, would anyone here recommend that route?

You can definitely have plastic surgery at a training hospital or with a resident/fellow of plastic surgery...but I wouldn't expect any price difference

If you have an appendectomy and a medical resident performs most of the surgery you don't get a discount.

Probably not. The surgery would actually be done by a plastic surgeon who is self employed and probably not employed by the school. I would not recommend have a new doctor do plastic surgery on you also. You may not like the results. For me, I'd much rather go to an experienced surgeon. Best of luck to you.

Plastic surgery is a subspecialty, so the plastics fellow is already a trained surgeon, and is at least supervised by a plastic surgeon on the faculty. Don't expect a $5 face lift.
