Nope. Though the current popular art form is film, that doesn't mean that the other arts are gone for good. In fact, many wonderful paintings are still being produced all the time.

to suggest that any time period has a lock on so-called real painting is to misunderstand painting all together. Painting is nothing more than the application of paint to a surface end of story..... it can be a billion different things and done that many ways but it is still just that applying paint to a surface do you mean will everyone go back to painting the way you think it should be in order to be real art, no because it already is real art it can not be anything else art is art whether your not or like it has no bearing whatsoever on if it is art or not your opinion will not change that because it can not change that simple fact art is art is art just as painting is painting is painting whether anyone likes it, buys it or shows it it....... or not.

I have to say I think you are right . Galleries are doing very very badly except for the likes of Banksy etc. Peolpe do not buy paintings now unless it is for investment . There is such media hype about the possible value and pictures rising in worth in a few years . People don't want to miss out on the cap ap . When my parents were buying pictures for their home they bought it if they liked it . You ahve probably guessed i am an artist . I am with two galleries in London and one in New York and they have never had such a bad year . So to sum it up yes i think so but it will takes years to actually be noticed like anything ....Basically ( not to boast ) I am a competant artist, work very hard but could not remotely live off my work .... I am producing stuff nobody wants and I should face up to it .....can anybody suggest another type of work !!!! www.janedunn.co.uk

Explain what you mean by "real paintings." There will always be those who enjoy painting the traditional way, but many artists have evolved with the times and now look to beautify digital technology with their works. Digital painting is becoming popular and could be considered an art form on its own.
So, no, I doubt civilization will ever stop working with the arts.

i certainly hope not...painting is a medium that cannot really be duplicated by a computer.
i think as long as there is art and art form, painting will be a part of it and there will always be some eccentric in a beret carrying a brush and a pallet involved somewhere.
