This guy I know is really sad, and he just got dumped by a girl. How do I make him happy?

Added-- by the way, the guy's a friend of mine. Not a very close friend, but enough of a friend to make me sad by seeing him sad.

What does he do that makes him happy?
does he play sports? try doing something with him. but try to stay away from the stuff that he did with his past gf.
If one on one doesnt work then try the group approach. Take him and friends to a theme park. Or party. thats the best way to get his mind of things.
From what i can tell you seem like a nice caring person. Keep on showing him support and things should get better.

Well, you need to offer him your unconditional friendship, and let him know that if he ever needs to talk you'll be there.
But if you like the guy and are hopping that maybe you two will end up together, be very careful, 'cause this guy might get with you 'cause he's really lonely and you seem to understand him, but he might later change his mind about you or even get back with his ex and you'll be the one with the broken heart... This lonely guys are dangerous 'cause they don't really know what they want!!!

Distract him the best way you can . Play a game , watch a movie, Listen to music .

well, there are more obvious ways to show your empathy but I'd just listen to him and be there for him. no sense in confusing him this early after the breakup, particularly if you're not that serious about him.
