Madonna, Brad and Angolina, and now the Governor of Utah. Why? or how is it difficult to adapt American babies (no matter what race)?
Is it a status, like having an exotic baby compared to having a fancy import vehicle?

I saw an interivew with Meg Ryan and she said that she was on a wait list for 10 YEARS trying to adopt here in the states. She gave up and adopted a little girl in China.
A friend of mine went to an adoption workshop and they confirmed the average 10 year wait unless you already have a mother willing to give her children TO YOU in adoption.

I don't understand what the problem with it is.
I think these people are giving these children a life they would never have had. Whatever their personal choice was when it came to where they adopted a child from is irrelevant. I think that its great that they wanted to open up their hearts to a child who without them would have nothing.

It is more difficult to adopt kids in this country due to all the hoops people have to jump through, but I doubt that was the reasons that these people had to not adopt from here. But in reality, the orphans from these poorer countries are in even worse situations than here in America, and don't have a chance period unless they are adopted. At least here in America, everyone, including orphans have a small chance of a good life if they work hard at it. I don't think an orphan from Africa or another 3rd world country could say that.

Most people who adopt have tried to get pregnant unsuccessfully. Once they have tried for several years to get pregnant, it is quicker to adopt overseas. After trying for 2-3 years to get pregnant, why would you wait 10 years to adopt int he states, when you can do it quicker overseas.

people are trying to show how "good" they are by throwing a bone to the poor helpless saps in other countries while forgetting the hundreds of thousands of poor, hungry, abused and egleted children we have here on our own soil...this is how screwed up we have become with the need for fame and publicity.....help the kids in your own town before you help the kids in another country...

can't we figure out if our own children are not taken care of we have no future?

you mean "adopting" and I agree with everyone, I think they are trying to get a good reputation with the public by helping out poor countrie's orphanages.
