If I have a house pan, like for making cakes in, can I use it to make a gingerbread house? My mom will let me make one only if it's like this...Thanks..and if I need a different recipe please let me know.

Oh, and since we're on this subject, do I need a special icing recipe?

Gingerbread houses are usually made out of what's really just a BIG flat cookie. You just cut big rectangles out of the dough, cook that, and assemble it. Gingerbread cookie recipes are different than gingerbread cake recipes. And yes, you need a firmer icing - anywhere you find gingerbread cookie recipies for houses should give you the stiffer icing recipe.

not with gingerbread, no.

gingerbread is very hard and has to be baked in thin cookies. you could make a spice cake using that pan, though. just buy a box spice cake mix.

for a real gingerbread house, you use something called royal icing. it gets very hard when it dries, so its perfect for gluing the cookies together. but for a cake pan like yours, you can use any icing, it wont matter.
