I'm having the same problem. Everything for my wedding is done, except the dress! I totally empathize with you, all the choices are way too overwhelming. All of my married friends swear you will "know" the dress that is perfect for you when you find it. I have my doubts, but will trust them. Fortunately, the color is usually determined. As far as design, well personally I appreciate hand beading. Some brides don't like that look and prefer more streamlined gowns. The bottom line is, you aren't going to know until you actually have it on your body. I'll say a prayer for us both that "The Dress" is found soon!

There are a number of different dress styles available to choose from that will flatter different body shapes but there are no hard and fast rules. Unless you are a frequent wearer of extravagant frocks and therefore know what suits you, you should aim to try on an example of each shape to get an idea of what you like. Have a think about what you consider to be your best and worst features, the perfect dress will disguise or draw attention from your least favourite parts and highlight all the best bits. Like any other type of clothing, wedding dresses are subject to fashion, but you need to ensure that the dress you choose is the right one for you. Remember, choosing a dress that is the height of fashion now may quickly look dated in your wedding photos. You can choose dresses or two piece outfits and both have advantages, but for both you will need to think about a number of aspects of your outfit.
Please note, the suggestions made here for what style suits what figure are just that – suggestions! To be certain if a style is right for your figure you need to try it on.

I had an idea of what I wanted when I went to the store,,, I ended up getting a dress that was extremely different from what I originally wanted. I couldn't have ended up with a more perfect dress for me.
What I did was take my mom (the person that knows me the best) dress shopping one day,,, we hit several bouquets and I chose several dresses, some she liked, some I liked and some we both liked. I then took my closest friends (more people that really know me) with me and got their opinion. Take people that really know you wedding dress shopping because they will be the most honest and they will be able to see what accents you the best.

i had it in my mind what kind of dress i wanted, and ended up trying on a dress that my bridesmaid saw and i didn't want to take it off again !!! i didn't much like the look of it on the hanger, and it was nothing like i had imagined i would wear, but trying on dresses is great fun and so why not- i thought. ended up going £300 over budget (which was a heck of a lot for me) buying it and i still love it to this day.
i would suggest going and having fun trying on all sorts of dresses, all styles, colours and fabrics and when you find the right one you will know. dint rush, give your self loads of time (i had to wait 4 months for the dress to come for Australia) you only do it once.
All the best, happy shopping, and i wish you many years of married happiness!

Pick a good wedding dress shop and try them on. I had no idea what i wanted to wear and luckly had a brilliant shop assistant who picked the dress that i eventually wore. When i saw the dress on the hanger i didnt like it but as soon as i put it on it felt right. Comfort is as a major factor. I wore my dress for about 13 hours in all!!

You should choose a dress based on your body type...
If you're short, then stay away from a princess ballgown type of dress...if you have to have one, go for one with a high waist line.
If you're wider on the bottom (triangle shape), then a princess style is more your thing.
If you're tall and thin, then go for something that will show off your height...something floor-length. A trumpet style would be great!
If you're bigger on top (upside down triangle), then get something with a lower waist line and smaller princess gown.

I looked at loads and loads of pictures in magazines and on the net, and roughly knew what shapes suit my body shape (short!!) then I went to shops and tried on loads that I liked, you can soon see what suits and what does not! Once you start trying things on you realise that some things just look awful, and some things look great, so that starts to narrow it down a little bit. Take your mum or bridesmaid with you and ask for honest opinions, make sure you really trust this person to give you their honest opinions though!

i began out finding by magazines and the internet inventory of shops in my section. I chosen numerous attire - those that I enjoyed in the kinds I knew worked for me, as nicely as some that have been ones I enjoyed yet no longer the traditional kinds i decide on. it particularly is dazzling how specific kinds which you do no longer think of will paintings out nicely will, and those you think of will paintings out nicely do no longer. additionally, yet another element i'd advise is taking somebody with you who can take photos of the dress once you're attempting it on at diverse angles. some issues regarded great in the reflect yet terrible in photographs. in the tip, when I positioned on the dress I chosen for my wedding ceremony, it felt great, and regarded great in the two the reflect and in the photos.

try on LOTS of styles, even the ones you think you won't like. Have a friend take digital pics of you in all the dresses. Go home, load them on the computer and start to look through the pics. Pretend it is not YOU, and see which ones catch your eye.
I bought two dresses, in the end I picked by seeing a pic of myself in my dress. I knew it was the one I was looking for.

Look at all of those things. You really need to go to a boutique and try some on. You can see which styles you like best that way. Also, decide if you to look more traditional or contemporary. Think of where and what season your wedding will be. Just try to factor in everything!
