Cain was the first child of Adam and Eve recorded in Scripture (Genesis 4:1). His brothers, Abel (Genesis 4:2) and Seth (Genesis 4:25), were part of the first generation of children ever born on this earth.

Even though only these three males are mentioned by name, Adam and Eve had other children. In Genesis 5:4 a statement sums up the life of Adam and Eve -- "And the days of Adam after he had fathered Seth were eight hundred years. And he fathered sons and daughters." This does not say when they were born. Many could have been born in the 130 years (Genesis 5:3) before Seth was born.

During their lives, Adam and Eve had a number of male and female children. The Jewish historian Josephus wrote that, "The number of Adam's children, as says the old tradition, was thirty-three sons and twenty-three daughters."

The Bible does not tell us how many children were born to Adam and Eve. However, considering their long life spans (Adam lived for 930 years -- Genesis 5:5), it would seem reasonable to suggest there were many! Remember, They were commanded to "Be fruitful, and multiply" (Genesis 1:28).

Actually, brothers and sisters cannnot intermarry *today* because of the genetic dangers. However, the command by God to not intermarry with close relatives didn't come until the time of Moses. Remember, Adam and Eve were created perfect by God, but they fell into sin. So their children would have a very few genetic mistakes as a result, and their children would perhaps have a few more, etc, etc, until by the time of Moses the mistakes had accrued to the point that it was dangerous for close relatives to marry and have children. Even Abraham married his half-sister, as it wasn't dangerous in his day, which was almost a thousand years before Moses.

To further accelerate the genetic problem, when the world was split up at Babel into different language groups (several hundred years before Abraham and about a hundred years after the Flood), the gene pool was suddenly divided into smaller "pools," so the odds of genetic mistakes getting together now went up. I recommend the book "The Answers Book" by Ham and Sarfati, which goes into more detail into this subject from a biblical and scientific perspective.

The scriptures did not say the brothers and sisters could not mate. I wasn't until Moses' time that inbreeding was not allowed, the reason is pretty interesting to think about. The Human Genome with Adam and Eve would have been perfect. The only flaw in Adam and Eve's Body before the fall was the freedom to choose to Obey God or Disobey God, now that freedom is gone due to their sin nature they passed on. Now lets go back to the question, sorry. Since their Genome would have been awesome, the degeneration of DNA would not have been much and wouldn' thave caused as much of the problems we see with inbreeding. Inbreeding causes problems now days because its highly likely that the brothers and sisters would have problems in the genome and that's what causes the people with blue skin and what not.

Well, excellent question, I must say that I've always been confused about that too. For example, it is known or at least it's a logical guess, that Adam and Eve were white, right? So, what about all the several races that populate our planet today? Or even if they were black, or indians, or God knows what else, what about the other races? About that stuff of brother and sister, another good question, no idea.

So, what I've conclude is that Adan and Eve indeed were the first humans, but that God had to create more kind of humans at other places of the world (blacks, indians, asian, etc) So the Genesis and the Bible as a whole is just gathering the History of Israel (the people of God), and therefore it began telling how the first humans were created there and bla bla. That's my conclusion, but I still have so many questions!!!!!!

Great question and Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!

Not sure. Although I believe myself that God created Adam and Eve first, The Bible does not say that He didn't create more. So I am assuming He created more for husbands and wives of the children of Adam and Eve. Have a very Merry Christmas!

Genesis 4:17—Where did Cain get his wife? Adam “became father to sons and daughters.” (Genesis 5:4) So Cain took one of his sisters or perhaps one of his nieces as a wife. Later, God’s Law to the Israelites did not permit the marriage of a fleshly brother and sister.—Leviticus 18:9.

I don't want to sound like a snarky skeptic here, but I might slip up, so forgive me.

The story of creation has God making the universe in six days. It has mankind falling from grace because they ate a piece of fruit. It has a serpent, (who apparently doesn't crawl on his belly yet- Gen 3:14) actually caring enough to take the time to talk to a woman about eating the fruit.

Cain and Seth's wives seem the least remarkable thing going on there.

Adam & Eve are the creations of religion. If people from the same family have children they are born with genetic deformities.

Archaeology is using mDNA to trace the female gender back. Women have the unique marker "m". They now have it back to essentially 1 woman and from her 4 others who spread through the earth. They have given the first woman the name of EVE.
Interesting - but not your question.
a) What we would all incest was not an early problem in humanity's development. It was often the case to preserve the family's inheritance/land etc.

Well, when A&E were kicked out of their precious little Garden, they had two options: pray (lol) or f*ck the bejesus out of each other... My guess is they took the latter of the two options (aka the 'fun' choice). Either that, or SuperJesus went back in time and gave them a Ford Focus with air conditioned seats and a full tank o' gas and told them to drive north, and they would just know when they got to their destination: Las Vegas!
