Teacup dogs, of various breeds (chihuahua, poodle, yorkie, etc.) are generally 5 lbs or under, the right size for carrying in a "purse".
However ... here are some things to remember ...
1) dogs this tiny are very very fragile ... should not be around young children, and need to be carefully watched out for.
2) Only carry a dog in a specially designed purse, bag, front carrier or backpack. These have mesh in them for air circulation, are specially padded, and have a tether to attach to the collar or harness. (I would only use a harness on tiny dogs .. no collars).
3) these dogs have a lifespan of 12-17 years, so look at your own future before getting one. i.e., if you anticipate a life change, such as going to college, moving to a new city, etc ... carefully consider whether having a pet will fit in with this.
Toy breeds ... 6-10 lbs ... (again, poodles, chihuahuas, yorkies, etc.) are less fragile and more hardy, and can still be carried in specially designed pet carriers.

Several dogs can fit in a purse. One of the most common ones known for their size is the tea cup poodle although many other breeds such as the ones along the line of the terrier are usually small(york shier terrier, silky terrier, etc). Of course there are dogs like the miniature poodle or chihuahua that are small. I once saw a man sneak a chihuahua into a fair. It was so small it fit in his pocket, but if you choose a dog be warned. These breeds are extremely yappy.

the best name would be tea cup or tiny toy i think. It's kind of ridiculous though. people who by tea cup dogs are usually charged exorbitant prices for a dog thats usually the runt of the litter and in turn will have more health problems and a shorter life span.
Some of the breeds sometimes referred to as teacup dogs are ones such as yorkshire terriers, chihuahuas, pomeranians or papillons. Anything that weighs about 5 pounds when theyre fully grown I guess.

You shouldn't carry a dog in a purse. I don't care what all the hollywood movie stars and singers are doing. They don't get paid to be smart and it shows.

u mean what breed cause theres a lot. the name of the size of dog is called toy or teacup and u can get them in poodles, terriers, etc. generally small dogs r better for families with older children as little ones make them nervous. if u like loud music and stuff they tend to end up as really yappy dogs and highly anxious.

I depends on the breed, but they are usually called teacups. for example the teacup poodle is small enough to fit in a small purse.

Chihuahua.
Chichuahuas can weigh up to nine pounds. The dogs are usually between six and eight inches tall. They can have either smooth, glossy coats or long, shaggy coats, and both varieties of coat come in many solid and patterned colors.
