My daughter did that as well. Try some kind of Cough med that is an expectorant. It loosens the phlem in their chest (if there is any) so that they don't cough so hard that they end up vomiting. If there isn't any phlem then try some kind of Suppressant to stop the coughing.

Other than that.... it will go away with time. My daughter is 8 now... she learned out to spit it out. (yuck) but... it's normal. As long as you don't see blood or anything like that.

This happens to me sometimes when my some has a bad cough.
Just give him cough medicine to try & stop the coughing & have him drink water in small amounts.
Be sure to keep up with the medicine giving it to him every 6 or 8 hours or whatever it says on the bottle.
Good Luck & keep a pail or garbage can near by for him to vomit it.

You did not state if the child has a lung infection of some type or asthma. It is not normal to vomit from normal coughing from a normal cold. You might want to make sure nothing else is going on with him.

my four year old daughter does the same thing! He may have a tickle in his throat, or he may be getting sick. If he does this everytime he coughs alot regardless of whether he is sick or not, may just be his body's reaction to it. We have a gag reflex, and sometimes alot of coughing stimulates it.

All I can recommend is that you find a good cough medicine which will coat his throat and stop the irritation that causes the coughing- ask your doctor or a local pharmacist to recommend something.

Try to keep his cough down. If it is a cold get a long lasting cough suppresant and/or try humidifier. Tiss the season for colds.

my nephew did that. Everytime we went out to dinner we asked for extra napkins because it never failed, he would start coughing and everyone would rush to him with a bowl or napkins, whatever we could find. He grew out of it by 3 years of age. check with the doc to see if he has G.U.R.D

usually, kids vomits because they also suffering from colds, the fluid goes to the throat instead thru the nostrils which causes them to vomit. Also avoid giving sweets which causes the throat to itch.

My 5 year old had the same problem, he probably has a sensitive gag reflex. I don't know if there is anything you can do about this, but he will outgrow it.
