You can travel with a lady's razor in carry-on luggage. Here is the quote from the TSA on razors:
Razor-Type Blades - such as box cutters, utility knives, razor blades not in a cartridge, but excluding safety razors.
Carryon - No Checked- Yes
Because they list safety razors being excluded from the list, you are fine to pack a ladies razor in your carry-on luggage.
Minneapolis and Detroit both have fabulous airports. They both offer the DVD rentals so you can rent a portable DVD player and movies and return it at your next airport. I am guessing you are flying with Northwest airlines as Detroit and Minneapolis are both Northwest hubs. If that is the case, you will really enjoy the Northwest Terminal at Detroit's airport. It is beautiful, easy to navigate and lots of stores to keep you busy during layovers.
I would also suggest registering for your WolrdPerks card online. WorldPerks is a free frequent flyer awards program. Also keep in mind, on domestic flights depending on the class of your ticket, you can upgrade to first class sometimes for as little as $30.00. So its worth while to find out if your ticket is "upgradeable".
Expect security lines to be extra long and busy for the holidays. The people moving through the lines are not "typical business travelers" and it will take security longer to process people not familiar with the routine. (Coats off/shoes off/laptops out and in a seperate bin..etc)

Youy can now take one quart size see through plastic bag as a carry on item. it can contain your razor. You can also take, in that same bag, different liquids (like shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash...) but it has to be 3 OZ or less of each product.
Do a search but here's a breakdown
Liquid and gel toiletries in 3-ounce containers or smaller are allowed if they are in a clear plastic, quart-size or smaller ziplock bag.
Any amount of eye drops, saline solution, prescription and nonprescription medicine and personal lubricants, which were not defined.
Larger bottles of liquids and gels from outside -- including shampoo, suntan lotion, creams and toothpaste -- are allowed only in checked baggage.
Drinks, liquids and gels purchased in airport stores inside the security checkpoints can be carried into passenger cabins.
Baby formula and medications are allowed but will be inspected.
Lighters are banned in carry-on bags and in checked luggage, unless they don't have fuel or are in a case approved by the Transportation Department.
Laptops, cell phones, pagers and personal data assistants are allowed.

3 –1–1 for carry-ons = 3 ounce bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz. container size is a security measure.
Consolidate bottles into one bag and X-ray separately to speed screening.
Be prepared. Each time TSA searches a carry-on it slows down the line. Practicing 3-1-1 will ensure a faster and easier checkpoint experience.
3-1-1 is for short trips. If in doubt, put your liquids in checked luggage.
Declare larger liquids. Prescription medications, baby formula and milk are allowed in quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint.
Come early and be patient. Heavy travel volumes and the enhanced security process may mean longer lines at security checkpoints.
TSA working with our partners. TSA works with airlines and airports to anticipate peak traffic and be ready for the traveling public.

If the TSA site says it is okay, then it is. Ask for a supervisor if they try to take it away. I carry-on my razor. Of course, watch you liquids. The TSA site has all that info, but remember lip gloss and mascara are liquids. You must take off you shoes in security so wear nice socks :)

Just put everthing in your checked in baggage. Carrying stuff on just slows everything down. At Georgia a stupid woman ahead of me walked through the metal detector with giant metal rings on her ears. Durh! The only stuff you should carry on are stuff you absolutely need such as identification, cash, credit cars, and prescription medication.
