Well the TSA at LAX tends to try to RUSH you through and yell at you at the same time. If the TSA people were yelling/rushing at an inexperienced foreign traveler saying, "PUT ALL YOUR STUFF IN THE TRAY" etc., then I can actually kind of understand why she would do that. It's entirely possible that the grandma had no idea she could/should carry the baby as she walks through the scanner/security made for people.

I don't blame the grandma. I blame the TSA folks. There are usually several of them standing at each line. Why didn't they pay attention and tell her to hold the baby? Then the TSA says that all of their rules are posted on their website. I doubt that the grandma even has a computer or knows how to go on the web.

Oh well...just my 2 cents.

I don't believe the infant was in a carry on bag. Don't you remember being exhausted when your child was a month old? I can easily envision setting that horrible, heavy carrier down on the conveyor to take something out of my pockets and not realizing that the baby was going through the x-ray. No harm no foul.

Did you read the entire article? She didn't speak the language and had never travelled by air before. It was a dumb mistake. There were plenty of times I would have liked to put my kid down because I needed my hands for something else. Plus, having a tiny baby could mean lack of sleep for the mother and she was just frazzled! and it's "realize".

HI, I THINK YOU SHOULD NEVER PUT YOUR CHILD DOWN. SHOULD NEVER PUT CHILD DOWN FOR THE AIRLINES. WHY WAS THAT CHILD IN A CARRYONE BAG. THE MOM OR THE GRANDMA SHOULD HAVE BEEN HOLDING THAT CHILD. THAT CHILD IS ONLY 1 MONTH OLD. THAT IS RELAY CRAZY. I DO NT CARRY HOW TIRED OR CRAZY EVERY THING WAS AT THE TIME YOU JUST DO NT PUT OUR 1 MONTH OLD CHILD DOWN FOR ANY THING.

I know it sounds like a stupid mistake.

But in grandma's defence, she was probably rushed, she most likely isnt used to taking care of the child and maybe put the child down to do something else and possibly forgot?

I'm sure she feels horrible.
