Hey Seabee,

Navy guy eh? I looked through a variety of galleries. Most western art sites are individual artist that I found. Except this one site, has many artists, and a really good collection of similar art. Perhaps if you spend some time looking, you may find a print and some information. also, you could write, email, or call the gallery, the seem knowledgeable at least they have a large variety.

Her are some other fine art sites also.

The best suggestion I can give you is to look into Antiques Road Show.It is a program that can help not only find out who made a particular item, but can also give you the value of said item.It is showed on PBS TV station, but I would imagine you could find some info out on the web. Good luck!

If you suspect it may have been a local artist you could contact your local historical society and they may have information on the artist.

If not you could try contacting local museums, art dealers or art appraisers. One of them could likely tell you about the artist. If the painting is valuable you should have it appraised anyway for insurance.
