I'm very smart, does it have to do w/ my intelligence? I took it like if he was trying to say that I was an "airhead". And I don't believe I am.

I'm very smart, I've scored pretty high on an IQ test performed by the college attended, and have been told that I'm brilliant. Why, would he say something like that? Maybe because I didn't care to hear his weak rapping. Him and I went out on our fist date, he didn't have much to say. He called me demanding, and that I have a short attention span. I wanted to tell him, that he was Feminine, because he was.

I would say it has a lot to do with intelligence. I wouldn't take what he was saying the wrong way at all! An airhead would have to ponder and wonder.

Arguably, people who stake a claim of their own intelligent are not usually so-especially when relying on a strew of tests to persuade others of such. Also, your lack of emotional intelligence is very obvious given that you cannot process the social fact that the "short attention span" comment is a euphemism for being stupid. Now first, look up euphemism because I know you don't understand the meaning, and then examine the fact that you did post this query in the first place. On top of all of that, truly smart people do not state that they are smart but rather present themselves in a humble way admitting that they have much to learn (which is true). And next to all that, short attention towards others or in things is usually representative of a lack of patience, which, accordingly is a lack of intelligence. An inability to be patient and to except others for things is another sign of intellect/maturity. So, please, quit referring to school as a measure of intelligence-you just sound non-intelligent.

Well only you can decide if you are offended, but from the short explanation of what happened it sounds like he was trying to insult you. It sounds like he was trying to tell you that you are rude in not listening and remembering what he was saying- which is very important in a relationship. You said yourself that you didn't care what he was 'rapping' about, but he may have felt it was important and HE was offended that you didn't listen/remember it.

Look up and ask if he saw that wicked cool bird, then quickly jump to a different subject. See if he can follow your conversation...if he can't, say he has a short attention span. This way you won't be offended...this has nothing to do with your intelligence.

I take a slightly different twist on attention span thoughts
If some one says something and I don't remember it one minute or one hour from the time it was said... I feel like it wasn't worth remembering anyway! So, tell me again?

Attention span and I.Q. aren't closely related. Granted, it can make learning things that require focus and concentration a little more diffucult for you. If he meant it like an endearment, just another quirky thing about you to like, don't be offended. If he said it like "God, you have such a short attention span," with an exasperated sigh, be offended.

Well, if you are so smart you would know what having a short attention span means. It means you can't focus on something for a long period of time. It does not and has never meant that someone is stupid.

To have a "short attention span" means that you don't listen well to others. You may have certain things that interest you & may listen more carefully then, the rest you may ignor or cut short. Has nothing to do with intelligence.
Learn to listen more.

I have a short attention span too...oh look at the bird! What was the question?

attention span has nothing to do with intelligence. He must have been monotoned and had nothing good to say. I am the same way. Give me the elevator speech and move on!
