Depends upon what you're measuring.

In most recipes, Cups is a measure of volume while grams is a meaure of weight.

For example,
unsifted all purpose flour: 1 cup = 140 grams
Milk : 1 cup = 230 grams (approx)

Cups are a volume measure, grams are a weight measure, the ounces in a cup measure are fluid ounces and have no relationship to weight. Example: Do two cups of feathers weigh the same as two cups of lead shot?

Depends on the density of what you're measuring.

2 cups of water are a pound (an ounce is 28.35 grams in the common avoirdupois system)

2 cups of helium are...?

2 cups of gold (19.3 times the density of water) should be 19.3 pounds... but gold is weighed on the troy system (31.103 grams to the ounce), so there are really about 23 1/2 pounds in 2 cups of gold.

Cups are a measure of volume. Grams are a measure of mass. For example, two cups of air do not weigh the same as two cups of lead. So you can't directly compare volume to mass -- they are two completely different measures.
