yo it is SO funny to see people typing the temptation of the lord by the devil. the fact that it is SAYING "DO NOT TEST THE LORD" is even more proof. to me. that God is man-made. if u were creating an almighty being which u knew was not real, would u say "go ahead and test him,he will provide". no, ur gona say, "do not test the lord, for he will not save u if u do so". u people are basically reading sumthing that says "nothing will happen if u test God, he will not bring forth ANY action to save the life of his most "loved" creation, who he supposedeely has a plan for,but is allowing them to jump off a building and die and possibly drop on sumone and killing them and their 5 year old child which could grow up to be a leading scientist with a cure for aids or sum other fatal disease, but wont save you because he doesnt want u to test him.

God wouldn't grant a person wings because the person is technically committing suicide and that is a sin in the eyes of God. Only he can take take a life, unless someone steals it (murder). In this case I believe gravity will win.

God grants what he wants to grant; it doesn't mean that he isn't there if you ask and don't receive; believe me if God wanted you to fly you would; I should have drowned when I was 2 and couldn't swim ; walked away from a family gathering , 2 houses down; walked into the deep end of a 6 foot end of a built in pool; by all accounts I should be dead but I am not; I am writng to you. Guess God won! but then he always wins when it is his choice and not ours.

P.S. God gave us the gift of free choice even to walk at the age of 2; he saved me from drowning ; wasn't my time; perhaps so I can talk to you; he saved me more than once; I am blessed in my life even you took everything away b/c he lives in my heart , comforts me , provides for me; faith can move mountains; try it sometime; I am 50 so it has been down a longer road than you and each and every time, problem , circumstance etc in my life, if I put it in the hands of God to work out and be patient for his help , it has worked; I am not saying this from fantasy but from fact, from first hand experience and you know what ? I am not alone ask the world ; if you are with God , you have an awesome friend , no better one out there.

Bottom line - God gave you the choice of free will ; freedom to choose how you use his gift depends on you. If it is your choice to jump and die, it is your choice; if it is your choice to use your life and talents for the benefit of others, you are rewarded; squander your gift if you want too, it is your choice! Merry Christmas

It depends.

If we assume that God exists and it is in His will to lift you up, then God, as defined in the Bible, would win. Teh reason is because as God He controls all things and is capable of overriding the physical laws He put into place.

This, however, assumes that it is in God's plan to override teh consequences of your utter stupidity for jumping off a building in the first place. It has happened, as evidenced by people who have fallen off buildings or gone skydiving with faulty chutes and not died. But generally, He allows the natural laws to work as He designed and you end up making a nice little crater in the pavement.

I think it would be a good idea to have faith in the good brain God put in your head, and not try it.
God is not a Magic Genie to be called on to save you from being a moron.
Conversely, If you are about to be hit by a truck, will denying the truck exists, keep it from smashing you?

Ah......you remind me of the devil tempting Jesus...

Matt 4:5-7 --- Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written: "'He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'" Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"

Typically God works within the realm of science, however, we don't completely understand all of science. I do believe if you had enough faith in God, and you weren't just doing it to test God, but needed to fly, then you probably could.

God does not exist to save us from stupid parlor tricks.
Your example actually reminds me of one of the temptations Satan put before Jesus.
Note Jesus' answer in Matthew 4:4-7.

I dont think he would grant you flight but if He still had a purpose for you to serve you would still live. It would depend on His good and perfect will. But the Bible says not to put the Lord your God to thte test

Then the devil took him to the holy city, and made him stand on the parapet of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written: 'He will command his angels concerning you and 'with their hands they will support you, lest you dash your foot against a stone.'" Jesus answered him, "Again it is written, 'You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.'"
