This startred after i went shopping. When i came back i felt shiverly and my bones ached.. I felt a tingling sensation on the left side of my neck. Also i found it hard to eat as i had a mouth ulcer.
I took Paracedmol and rested.
The next day i felt better, and resumed my day, getting ready for work the next day, i still had this tingling sensation and this time i could see small lumps on the left side of my face, but i ignored it.
The next morning i had a fever and could not go to work and i visited the out-patients ward, and i have Chicken Pox
Only on my Face and back of Neck (more on the left side)
My right eye was red and had a sticky discharge (Optrex Chloramphenicol eye drops given).
Mouth was Sore unable to eat.

Its now thr 7th day and i have seen 3 doctors, 1 being a eye speclist....
And
My Poxs are drying out
My eye is still sore

hi ya was24 when i took ckn pox all i can say is don't scratch lol or u will end up wit scarskeep up wit the eye drops and the paracetmol but either go to ur local chemist or even tescos and buy some eurex cream to stop the itching, if they are drying out that means they r dyin as for ur mouth gargle some salt water hope all goes well. oh by the way u can also buy an antihistamine to help with the itch (like piriton or benadryl) both aren't that expensive under a fiver each, but worth it if it stops the itch

This is interesting as I had a similar disease. Three doctors, two different diagnoses: bacterial and virus. I ended up in Accident & Emergency (England) with the serious eye problem (could not see out of one eye; swelled up). Thought to be contagious. Could not get the eye drops in (they had to be kept in the fridge).

As seemed to have hand, foot and mouth disease symptoms (similar to yours) I suspected a virus (but not Chicken Pox), but these preceded the eye infection. Photophobia and itchy ("conjunctivitis") eyes still over week after.

Ciprofloxacin 750g (that's big!) antibiotic tablets. These might be clearing up other ailments, but it is not doing anything for the virus which has flu-like symptoms as well.

I thought I had an underlying disease causing complications, but as it goes on it just seems like a virus that effects the eyes and lungs as well (still got this). It seems epidemic and just one in a hundred get eye complications as the optometrist at the eye clinic had already seen four people with it.

I was bedridden for 2 weeks when I had chicken pox aged 39yrs.I had 138 spots on my face alone. They were everywhere hundreds of them.I felt really ill and had the feeling I would never recover but of course I did.I had terrible head pains and weakness.Despite not scratching I still got scars although they have now faded.I felt ill for weeks after and it took a lot of effort to get going again. It will take sometime to recover take it easy and don't push yourself too hard Take time to convalesce and dont hesitate to see the doctor if you are at all worried.

Poor you. I had chicken pox in my late teens and was very ill, apparantly its much worse when you are older. I was ill for about 2 weeks so it looks like you should start feeling better after Christmas. As for the scars, dont scratch them spots, any scars you have now will fade but wont go away completely. Hope you feel better soon.

i feel your frustration. I had chicken pox 2 weeks ago and am in my 20s. The doctor put me on antiviral tablets for 7 days . then advised me to buy calamine lotion which really didnt relieve the itching. I was then advised by a pharmacist to buy eurax cream which relieved the itches as I couldnt sleep at night. As for the sorethroat just get strepsils and continue taking paracetemol. Drink soup instead of forcing food down your throat. My scars are disappearing slowly. I am using bio oil to get rid of em as quickly as possible - I had them all over my body. I Hope you feel better soon.

Calamine lotion is good for the itching , use with cotton wool and dab on affected area. You can also try allergy tablets such as Clarityn (Lorratidine 10mg) non drowsy or Piriton tablets which may cause drowsiness, to relieve the itching.
But calamine lotion by far is the best solution, also good for sun burn etc.

When I had chicken pox as a child, my parents made me soak in a warm bath with cornstarch. I seem to recall it making me feel less itchy.

You should be so long as you haven't picked at the spots, thats when you get scars from chicken pox.

Hope your feeling better soon.

try to apply neosporin the open wounds after you have scratched them..it will help heal the wound. then after they have dried up and gone away use cocoa butter on the scars right away to help them fade.

well to start with make sure you don't scratch your itchy skin, apply plenty of calamine lotion to the affected areas, then yuo shouldn't scar and make sure you drink plenty of water
