Ok... I have one for you why don't you try Griffith Park Observatory or this is the best spot... The Window's Restaurant it's in the Southpark Area of Downtown you have a perfect view of the entire city in any direction especially now in the winter bet you could see the ocean and even Long Beach from there.

For a close-up view of Downtown, try the Dodger Stadium parking lot off of Sunset Blvd. and Stadium Way.
For a view of the entire LA Basin, the Griffith park observatory is great at the top of Vermont, cross over Los Feliz and go up the hill into the park. They have filmed a lot of movies there, including Rebel Without A Cause with James Dean.
On Mulholland Drive just west of Laurel Canyon is a park with a great view, and a block or two more to the west is the Fryman Canyon overlook into the Valley with a great view in the other direction. All 3 spots are great for a view and also safe and romantic.
If you want to go for a drink and check out the lights, try the Standard Hotel rooftop bar downtown at 6th and Flower or in Hollywood, Yamashiro Restaurant on Franklin just west of Highland. Killer Mai-Tai's and a Japanese theme with a great view from Hollywood to the ocean.

Griffith Observatory is great but crowded.

Try driving up the 2 north past Montrose. Follow the freeway--it will briefly turn into a city street, and then wind around a corner and turn into Angeles Crest Highway. Go a couple miles up the road and on your right is a FANTASTIC lookout point. I haven't been there at night but on a clear day bf and I saw clear out to Santa Monica.

Drive carefully! It's a tiny, windy road but it's worth the drive.

The entire Northside of L.A. is Hills from Pacific Palisades to the Griffith Observatory. So there are hundreds of good spots. One of the best on the west side of the hills is from up at the Getty Museum off the 405---all the way over to the east side, from up by the Hollywood sign area (near Griffith Observatory). Take your pick.....

Um i think you are referring to Main Street. I have never been there personally, but I heard you can find a bunch of great stuff. FYI-If you're looking for something original in Downtown LA, you probably wont find a real brand. Everything out there is fake. Just go to the store and get some UGG boots....unless you want fake ones...LOL

I would strongly recommend going to Yamashiro's in Hollywood. There's a lookout point that offers a beautiful view of downtown LA. The parking is only valet, so you'd probably want to stop in and get a drink or dessert.

Up on Signal Hill (in the middle of Long Beach).
You can see downtown LA to the north, the LA harbor to the west, Long Beach harbor to the south, Huntington Beach Pier to the east and, on a clear day, Catalina
