Well I don't think "chance" has anything to do with it. That is a MUCH more appropriate question for the believers.
Anyway I would assume that just like you they feel that they have chosen correctly BUT if they chose wrong that God would not be so blind or ignorant to ignore a good person just because they did not wear a "I'm a Catholic" name tag while letting scumbags who have the name tag into heaven.
Just like you have taken a chance that YOUR faith is the right one figuring that if you DID get it wrong that God won't bar you just because you called yourself something else.
I am not arrogant enough to ascribe human vanity to God. I would expect God to bless the good people by any name and punish the bad people by any name.
Also..if God is within us all then wouldn't God be a big reason as to why we don't believe...couldn't that be God's will?

What do you want me to do? Should I just start saying I believe in God even though I don't feel it? It's like telling someone you love them when you don't. I can't force myself and no one can force me. I'm not denying that a God might exist but I don't feel like I'm risking anything since I don't feel I have a choice. If a God does exist, there is always the chance he will understand exactly where I'm coming from and I won't be 'punished' for not knowing all the answers.

I don't know about other people, but for me, it's not a choice. It's not like one day I was just like, "I think I'll stop believing in God." I could no more believe in God than you could believe in Zeus, or hyper-intelligent pancakes that created the universe, or frogmen from Zeldar-9 that created us all as a science experiment. There is no evidence that any of those things are real.
You believe in God because your neurophysiology creates the feeling that God exists. I don't, because whatever it is that you have in your brain that make you believe, I just don't have. That's one hypothesis, anyway. I was raised to be a Christian, I tried, it didn't work.
My question is, if God were real, why would He create someone like me, who can't believe in Him, so is therefore destined to be tortured in Hell forever and ever?

Let me, in all sincerity, turn the question around to you -
Why are you willing to take the chance of not believing in Allah or Krishna? I suspect the answer might be that you don't think they are "right" and the system that you have chosen is "right" therefore you probably don't think you are taking a chance.
We think the same way.
Cheers

why are you willing to waste a good portion of your short life worshipping and praying?
if the average needed amt of sleep is 8 hrs, thats 1/3 of a day, thus 1/3 of your life should be spent sleeping. so if u live for 60 yrs, u spend 20 yrs sleeping. and then 8 hrs for working ? minus weekends thats a good portion, why waste what u have left on worshipping to an unknown existance in HOPE that you will live for eternity in a place where u have NO free will and are forced to worship a being who sent your "earth family" and friends to hell?

Why are you willing to take the chance to not believe in Zeus? In Ahura Mazda? In Apollo?
See how that works?

What chance?
Oh yeah, this question has been asked a million times here, so yes, this is the time that I'm going to breakdown and repent out of fear of the unknown! Keep your scare tactics while I enjoy life on earth.

take a chance?? on going to hell I supposed you implied, people who get angry on people who exercise their right to free will are showing how little they actually know about the word of God, comprehension, love for your neighbor, and many things more. everything at it's time, people will realize eventually if they wish to believe in a higher power or not. let them be and support them on helping humanity and each others out. that's really what it's all about.

I'd rather live my life simply by the Golden Rule than try to follow a book that has more contradictions and has more hypocrites for teachers. I'll take my chances by living simply and honestly.

rofl. Ok... so... believe because you could be wrong?
Yeah, that's a good reason to believe. Let your fear dictate your life.
You scared to go outside of your door too? After all, you might get hit by a car.
And quit using the word non-believers. it implies that non-Christians believe in nothing and thats not true.
