well if you want it to be more thick add more flour...trust me!! my aunty always adds alot of four to her cookies to make them thick...and so there could be alot for everyone...and dont think that its going to taste to much like flour because it want...

It's the weirdest thing, but I swear that it works...
If it's damp outside for any reason (snow, rain, humidity) then add an extra 1/2 cup of flour.

yeah generally flour will raise them, but don't add too much! did you add eggs? baking soda? what kind of cookie were you making? also i substitute crisco for butter...i find the cookie rises better

Try baking powder (not baking soda) - it'll make them a little more fluffy. Not too much or you'll get cake.
