yes, just the yolk.
Since you're new to this, I suggest just
1. cracking the egg into a bowl
2. fish the yolk out with a spoon or your fingers.

That way if the yolk breaks when you crack the shell, it's in the bowl and not your hand.

Yes, just the yolk. To do this I usually crack the egg in half with the longside of the egg up and down so that all of the egg stays inside the shell. Then I take the half of the shell with the yolk and white and start dumping out the white slowly....Once it gets harder to dump the white out, i hold the other half of the shell up against the shell with the yolk so that the empty shell holds the yolk inside and lets the white drip out. The yolk can stand a little poking, but I've broken a couple of the years so be careful!

Recipes that call for just egg yolk want just the yolk. There are gadgets you can buy to separate an egg, but I find the best way is just to get your hands dirty. Have two small bowls ready. Crack the egg as you usually would (flat hard surface works best, such as a countertop). Break the egg open by removing the top half of the shell (so the crack is horizontal and you are removing the top vertical half). Allow the whites to run into one bowl and dump the yolk into you hand. Allow the remainder of the whites in your hand to run through your fingers. You can pass the egg yolk gently from hand to hand until you have just the yolk. This is fast and easy. It's messy, but hey, aren't messy cooks good cooks?

Yes just the yolk! I break the egg in half on the side of a small bowl and over the bowl slip the egg back and forth from one half of the shell to the other, as the white slides into the bowl and the yolk remains in the shell. It is very easy. They also sell plastic egg yolk separators, but that does not really work any better!

This is a great question. Yes, you use only the yolk, to remove the whites you will need to either and this is the easiest in my opinion. Crack an egg and open it into your hand shifting the yolk from on hand to the other and letting the whites run to the bowl under it. Another way is to break the shell in two and slowly shift the egg yolk from one shell to the other the whites should run into the bowl. There is also a yolk seperater but I find they tend to break the yolk. Good luck with this and remember to be gentle with the yolks.

Yes that usually does mean just the yolk. You can get just the yolk by cracking the egg into you fingers and let the white of the egg run through and your left with just the yolk.

Well, there are strainers that can do the job for you but I was watching an episode of Three's Company and they showed how to do it.

Crack the egg and split it open but as you do turn one end of the shell up to catch the yolk. Now you carefully pour the unbroken yolk back and forth between the egg halves and after a few pours you will only have the yolk.

Is there anything 80's sitcoms can't solve?

Yes it means just the yolk of the egg. Crack the egg in half like normal. Then transfer the yolk back and forth from each egg shell until you just have the yolk. Good luck and happy holidays!

This is pretty hard to do but the best way i think is to crack the egg into your hand and kind of pass the yolk from one hand to another until just the yolk is left. And by pass i mean just drop it into the other hand over and over. just to let you know your probably never going to get just the yolk, you'll still have some egg white.
