I don't mean the War of Independence (there was no real USA then) and I don't mean the Cold War (a major achievement it has to be said but no real military combat) I mean a proper normal war they have won and UN peace keeping doesn't count either.

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO CLARIFY ONE THING:

The US did NOT win the war of 1812.

If the US had one, Canada would be a part of the U.S.

In fact, Canada was successful at repelling attacks, burning Washington D.C., and advancing and winning land in Michigan, New York, and Maine.

As a sign of good faith between the two countries, Canada/England gave the land back and thus, the borders were drawn (not to what they are today though).

The U.S. was successful in beating the confederates in the Civil War.

They won the short, but outstandingly successful Spanish-American war to control the sugar-trade.

They were decisive in helping Canada, England, Russia, and France defeat the German-Ottomans in WW1.

They were instrumental in the defeat of the Nazis and the Japanese in WW2.

They came to a stalemate along with the rest of the countries taking part in the UN sanctioned Police action against North Korea in the Korean War.

They did NOT win the second French-Polynesian war (AKA, conflict in Vietnam).

They were successful in the first Gulf War during desert storm -another US led effort.

They LOST the war against drugs.
They have successfully AIDED other countries dealing with anti-democratic forces.

They are currently LOSING the battle for stability in Iraq.

They WILL be defeated by the Chinese-Iranian-Russian threat during World War 3.

Good luck.

War of Independence- this counts because we had presented the King our grievances and presented a little thing called "The Declaration of Independence" (This document defined the United States and it separation for the British Empire)

The Civil War- The established United States of America squashed a rebellion of its Southern States keeping hold of the Union.

The War of 1812
The Spanish-American War
The French-Indian War
World War 1
World War 2

-The list goes on Brother...

I am sure you subscribe to the school that only educated you on what the public perceives as losses weakening the strength and integrity of the United States such as the following:

Vietnam
Korea
The U.S. Baseball team vs. Mexico

Try reading a history book you might understand all the freedoms and privileges you have to bash the country which protects you.

Any time you don't think there was an America in the Revolutionary War, go back and read the Pension documents from the soldiers who fought in that war available at Ancestry.com and Hertiagequest.com from your local library.
These men would differ with you, they clearly were fighting for this land and their countryman here and the rights we have here today.

Many wars..... while one can argue about the European front (Allied forces with Russia) during WW2, the Pacific front was by far US won. Not to mention the Mexican-American wars and number of other wars too....

Sure:
The War of 1812
The Civil War (to the extent the Union won)
The Spanish-American War (ended spanish imperialism, got a piece of Cuba)
The Mexican-American War (Remember the Alamo -- horrible defeat there, but spurred us on to victory)
World War I (Stopped the Axis powers from... um... winning. I suppose stopped them from taking good stuff from France)
World War II (Stopped the Nazis and fascists from world domination.)
North Korean Conflict (A U.N. collective action)
The First Gulf War (Got Saddam to withdraw from Kuait.)

Try and drink alot more water, sometimes when feel hungry you might be confusing that for thirst. As for junk food, try not to keep it in the house, else if you have poor impulse control like me you will end up eating a whole package of fig cookies or pound of pistachios in one evening.

We have won every war, or somewhere in the process of it. The problem is politicians bringing us home before we are done doing our jobs. Thats not really a defeat, thats calling the game and sending you home while you have the enemy on the 5 yard line and your 1st down and goal, which is totally shameful on the politicians who have ordered it so..

A better question to ask is has the US military ever LOST a war, and the answer is no. Only political restraints have held back the best fighting military in the world.
