I would cut up very small pieces of what ever your family is having at each meal.

my son is also turning 1. tomorrow, actually. he has expressed an interest in table food and that's what caused me to give it to him. whenever we eat and whatever we eat, he wants to try it. he has tried some unusual stuff, for babies anyway. things i wouldn't think he would like. spaghetti, chili, stuffed cabbage things like that. the other day, we had a party for him with some appetizers for the adults. we had these ones with spicy italian sausage in it. he ate that and liked it. i just make sure to give him stuff he can chew and cut it up small enough...a little bigger than a cheerio. i also get those gerber dices and some of the graduate things. he seems to like regular table food better, though. so, i guess what i'm getting at is...he can eat pretty much anything he can safely chew. i wouldn't give him potato chips or nuts or hot dogs etc.

I skipped a lot of the Gerber, especially the Toddler Meals which are nasty. Once he made it to the Rice & Chicken stage, I read the label and quit giving it to him. You can buy a food mill on amazon for $12, but you may not need it for much longer.
Start offering him whatever you're eating. The more variety they get, the better!
-Ground beef & fish are easy meats for them to chew.
-Steamed veggies cut up small (or canned ones if you're in a hurry).
-Ravioli cut in half
-Baked pasta with chopped up veggies & cheese
-Soups are good, but high in sodium just like the Toddler Meals. I buy Healthy Choice if I have to use canned. You can make quick noodle soup with low-sodium chicken broth, noodles & leftover veggies.
-My son has always loved mushrooms
My son from about 10 months on enjoyed spicy food and all kinds of seasoning. Our pediatrician said as long as it doesn't seem to cause digestive troubles, to go for it. As a result, he eats a fantastic array of vegetables and meats.

My 10 1/2 month old pretty much eats what we eat, as long as it's not too greasy, spicy or have hard edges. I do keep a few jars of stage 3 if we are having something thats not good for her.

try soft foods like cream potatoes, gravy, macaroni and mashed up meats.
Most kids just eat off the table at 6 months old.

hi! Yes, he needs to eat more of what u eat! My youngest child is 11 months old today... he eats cubed cheddar cheese, ritz crackers, mashed potatoes with gravy or butter, all vegetables, spagetti and meatballs, tiny peices of apple, pear, strawberries...he eats what we eat! Talk to your doctor or a health nurse, and they can recommend what to feed him.
