Well, first of all, you should only be witnessing to us about YOUR beliefs. When you want to witness to us about OUR beliefs, you are immediately implying that our beliefs are wrong (which you have no way of proving, incidentally - only what you believe versus what I believe), which puts me on the defensive and will get my door shut in your face pretty quickly. If I approach you and ask you what you believe, that's a different story, but if you knock on my door and say, "Can I take some time to tell you about Jesus Christ?" I will say, "Thank you. My uncle is a retired minister, my mother is a retired church secretary, and I'm now Wiccan from hearing so much about Jesus Christ. Have a nice day."
And I happen to agree with the poster who said you'd better know how to spell properly. It's "their beliefs", not "there beliefs". Proper grasp of the English language is very important to me. I didn't graduate Summa Coom Laude (have to spell that phonetically because Yahoo! doesn't recognize Latin) by not knowing the difference between "there", "their" and "they're".

The best way would be to become a respectable, well-educated, kind and open-minded person, and then AFTER the topic was raised by someone else, honestly say what you believe.
Just about anything else you try will only turn people off. I have no interest at all in being preached to by people who can't spell, think, reason, be honest or be kind.
Yes, I'm serious about the spelling thing. I made the effort to learn to spell and punctuate correctly. Why should I care about the religious beliefs of someone so undisciplined as to be unable to learn simple things like those?

Can I be honest with you? I hate it when someone comes up and tries to "save" me or "witness" to me. I tolerate your right to believe in whatever you choose to believe in but some "christians" are not happy unless they are trying to get me to believe the same things as them. I don't come up to you and try to tell you why I don't believe in Jesus, therefore please respect my beliefs by keeping your beliefs to yourself.
Isn't there a part of the bible that warns people to beware those who are loud and praying in the streets just to show how righteous they are (or how righteous they think they are)? I believe there is. You should heed Jesus' own warning in those verses and pray alone. Keep your religion to yourself and leave other people to their own. If your's is THE truth, then eventually people will discern it for themselves.

The only "witness" that matters is living a decent life. All the rest is commentary.

Some people feel like you are infringing upon their beliefs when you try to convert them to yours. There would be less fighting if you didn't tell the good news to people who don't want to hear it.

Only a false witness will tell of things that you have never seen.
You can babble hearsay, but you are a witness to nothing.

approach them on the street and start reading bible passages to them as they try to get you to stop. if that fails, hit them in the head with your bible until they say they agree with you. its really the only way to get the devil out of them.

You could just do like most other Christians do, be horribly rude, insult them and threaten them with torture.
