I'm not in the UK, but have a tidbit of info about Santa ... The red fat Santa that most people are familiar with is actually created and marketed heavily by Coca Cola decades ago, thus the red & white (and the fat part, though my husband would disagree). Anyway, the reach of Coke is pretty far and wide, but as a young child I lived outside of the US and met the taller more slender Father Christmas who wore long green robes and was bearded, but was definitely not the fat red Santa we know now, and I prefer the Father Christmas because he seems so traditional, but we use the red round one because he is so prolific and still so fun for kids.

Father Christmas is the jolly old man in red we all know and love, albeit a marketing dream. However, Santa Claus is derived from Saint Nicholas, and is perhaps the REAL Father Christmas?

Father Christmas. It sounds so much cuter and Santa always comes out in an annoying American accent

Father Christmas is the English name.
Santa Claus is the American slang name for 'Saint Nicholas' that caught on.
I don't actually have any strong feelings either way.

Father Christmas is better, more old fashioned but traditional.
Santa is just an anagram of Satan!
