I want to purchase a new home theatre system but dont know if it would be better to buy now or after the holidays. Will they have better sales, deals, and all around prices for electronics after the new years or does it matter?

Also does anyone have any suggestions on what brand to go with thats not too expensive?

Home theather sucks, because you have not said any sought of price range

like if you said 10K then I would say when you are ready do it, at the high prices you do the resherch then go to a store and then start dealing

if you said 1K then it is differnt, go to all of your friends who have done it listen to theres,

then go to a small store, like a high end shop and buy speakers, Speakers are the most inportant part of anything

recivers will change and change fast, but you can have speakers for a long time and just change the power going to them and they will sound better, but cheap speakers alway sound cheap, also a good speaker is not that much money, but buy from a good brand

stay away from the bose all in one crap, over priced and not that good, it is all highs and so- so lows, very little smooth mid range that you really want

also with speakers floor modles are a good thing, speakers if kept at the right temp will last, so save some money there

good luck, if you want to ask me more just e-mail me, I have been reading and buying stuff for 20 years, and I do it for all of my friends

just a hobby, good luck

What price range do you want. What setup are you looking for 5.1 or 6.1 surround sound? I currently am happy with a 5.1 channel surround sound panasonic. Also I personally recomend do not and I repeat do not buy a system where the dvd/cd player is built into the reciever. This always tends to cause problems later on down the line.

First off, he's your son. Why go out and spend big bucks on an expensive system when he's only going to be there for ?? years. Get a good receiver and a moderate set of speakers. It will be good enough for gaming and what the hell ever he will be doing. for your solution, Best Buy or circuit City will be fine. Don't kill yourself over this. Depending on his age, he'll be to busy chasing chicks in no time at all anyway.

At this point it doesn't really matter when you buy. I have an Onkyo HTIB (home theater in a box) It is a DD6.1 System and ran about 500bucks. Vanns.com or check out Onkyousa.com.
I love this system and consumers reports gave their 7.1 HTIB system a thumbs up or buyers choice.

My store sells home theater systems. I am not lowering my prices after the holidays. I already keep them low to beat my competition. Let me know what prices you see and if I can beat it, I will. If you want a quote email me at a.taylor@onsitesat.com
