Landmen are typically employed by oil and gas companies to acquire drilling rights to property that may contain oil or gas deposits. My uncle is a retired landman from Amoco.
I don't know whether my uncle was a typical landman but he seemed to be OK to me.

Sort of nice...especially in the spring with the new leaves and the fresh air that still has a chill in it. Sometimes I use them to go bowling, but not often because it's too nice outside to sit in a dingy bowling alley, drinking beer, and throwing a stupid ball at some pins...I'd rather have a picnic with the landmen than bowl with them when the weather is nice...
I would like to kill bots who spam on Answers with landmen...
