No, he doesn't have diarreah, I think he was just not being careful. It was somtime between when I went to bed at midnight last night and when I woke up at 6 am today. He does have long hair, so maybe I just need to trim his hair and take him to the groomers! Thanks for the comments so far, I appreciate it!

if he is long haired, cut the fur off, it will grow back, short haired, take some clippers (the king you shave a head with) and shave the bottom, you may need help, if it is a runny poo, then a trip to the vet is necessary, kitties shouldn't have runny poo.

My long hair kitty has this problem too. I noticed when she was pooing that she doesn't lift her butt up enough for clearance all the time. You may want to trim the fur back there to help prevent some of the sticking of the poo.
To clean out the poo, depending on how tangled it is on his behind you can use a warm wet sponge to get it out, you can try to brush it out, or if it's really bad, cut it out.
I try to check my kitty's behind every time she uses the box to make sure her back end and fur are clean. If it isn't, then I immediately take some toilet paper and wipe her bum.

Get a soft washcloth and dampen it with warm water. You can wipe the poop off with a little effort. Most kittens don't mind this a bit as long as the cloth isn't too dripping wet -- it's similar to the way Mommy Cat cleans them with her tongue.
Be aware that if you wipe her tummy like this, and she's very young, she might pee or poop on you. Mother cats do that to help the kittens "go".

Yes, you might want to take him to the groomer and get him a "Brazilian." I do that for Poppy because she used to have that problem a lot before I changed her diet. But I still do it because she's a messy .... er .... urinator.
For now just use a wet rag. No soap. Sure it'll be a nasty job, but hands can be washed.

Sounds like the kitten needs a bath, have fun. After you wash him, trim the hair on his behind. That will help him some. Does he have diarrhea, he may need to go to the vet. Have someone help you bathe him, he is not going to like it.

LOL! My cat used to have the same problem. Start by giving the cat a bath. Then umm, wipe, umm, his butt. Everyday you should wipe it and eventually he should start cleaning better.
If this doesn't help, email me anikatt@yahoo.com
Hope this helps!! :-)

Take a damp / wet cloth (warm water), and gently rub away the poo. It will take some time, depending how dirty your kitten's bum is, but you will manage.

Errrr... you may have to cut/shave it off, or give your kitten a bath!
