The Bible is quite clear about that and how to become a member of Christ's church (a Christian) and be saved.
Here's what the Bible says:
One cannot become a Christian and be a member of Christ's Church without doing the following:
1) Believe John 3:16
2) Publicly Confess Jesus as the Son of God Matt. 10:32- 33
3) Repent of your sins Luke 13:3, Acts 2:38
4) Be baptized for the remission of sins Mark 16:16, Acts
2:38
5) Live faithfully
If you have followed what the Bible teaches, you can be sure you are saved.

I believe that Jesus is Who He claimed to be, and that He can do what He said He would do.
He promised that His sheep would hear His voice, and no other....and that He would know them.
He promised that all who would come to Him would be saved.
I am saved because Jesus says so, not because of anything I have done. He hears my prayers because He loves me, not because I'm such a great shakes at praying.
Mostly I know because He is in me working to make me a better me in spite of me...and, brother, does He have His work cut out for Him! Slowly but surely, I am becoming the person He wants me to be, but it's been a long, slow process...and we still have a long way to go before I can claim to be "perfect"...

Because I invited Jesus into my heart and life and repented of my sins, and turned my life over to Him. That is how I became a Christian. All I had to do this is only one time. But because I am a sinner like everyone else is. I ask for the Lord's forgiveness daily and strive to improve on my weaker elements that cause me to fall short of God's glory.

You have prayed and asked the Holy Spirit to come into your life...that being said...if you did ask and HE has really changed you then yes, you have been saved.

The bible says we will see our spirits bare the fruits. Matthew 7:16 and the fruits are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Galatians 5:22and 23.

Praying does not a christian make nor will it save you. If you have allowed/invited "your god" into your heart, then you are saved, he/she will not come by asking , you have to believe first.

When you have recieved the gift of the Holy Spirit you know it. If you are in doubt you need to repent and God will give you the gift of eternal life and you will know it through the Holy Spirit.

Acts 16:31~> Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.
thats how i know.
Jesus came to save you and the whole rest of this world from their sins, and you can go to heaven and live w/ Him when you die , if you just believe!
