They have more common sense, and that right there is intelligence enough

There are many intelligent atheists, some of admirable accomplishment and intellect. One of my favourites was Carl Sagan.

However, many atheists seem to have convinced themselves that their religious non-affiliation can in and of itself be taken as an indication of intelligence. And I think it is fair to say that if Yahoo Answers is a representative sampling, then we have glaring and incontrovertible proof that it is not always so.

Atheists come in all shapes and sizes, just like the rest of us do. You will find smart atheists. Small atheists. Big atheists. And yes, dumb-as-a-post atheists.

That is like saying "are Christians as smart as they seem?" or "Are Muslims as smart as they seem?". Of course some Atheists are very smart and well-educated, but you cannot just classify hundreds of thousands of people by their religion and say that they are all smart or not smart. Some Atheists are very smart, I am sure. And others are not smart.

yes we are. and it comes from looking at things without a slanted view. taking all evidence into account no matter the source and forming a complete and informed decision. It is also the next stage of enlightenment past blind religious fervor. Atheist since 1988.

They had better be that smart, and more: They have a tough job ahead of them, convincing the world to see reason for a change.

Not all athiests are intelligent. Not all religious people are intelligent. Not all athiests are stupid. Not all religious people are stupid.

When you are exposed ito indoctrination by most of the people around you, it is hard to not believe.

I was indoctinated into catholicism as a child. I knew of no athiests, yet I questioned my beliefs. Only over the past couple of years have I found others who have discredited religion.

im sure they are very smart in some areas,,,,, yet some of them seem uneducated or limited in regards to how they view others, and the reality of life,,,,,, these types seem to need to put down others beliefs (and yes some religious people do it to them) and they lump all believers of God into the main religions they know about,,,,,,, alot of them seem to think that people are very simple, ,,,,,, as opposed to other people being just as thoughtful and intelligent as them,,,,,,,,, as in they auto think someone who believes in creation doesnt believe in evolution (while true some dont,,, thats not everyone) so i guess my main problem,, is that they group people based on preconceived ideas, rather then reality,,,, and that is never smart to do,,,,,,,
