Hey every one!!
I am scheduled for surgery in January.
I'm having one saliva gland removed because a small stone grew in it! Its gross I know, but I am really scared, because they will need to cut a small area on the side of my throat!! I will need to stay over night as well because I will have a small drain tube for a few hours!! Horrible! I am really freaked out about this because I hear it is very painful and one thing I fear is pain!! has any one ever gone through this surgery? Is it possble to be gassed instead of injected to fall asleep?please help, I have many concerns.

You need to talk to your doctor about your concerns.

Also, chances are you'll get both an i.v. as well as gas to put you to sleep. They'll also be supplying you with pain medication.

You'll be just fine.

I did not have this specific surgery but others. You should mention your fears and concerns to the doctor who takes care for the anesthesia and the surgeon before the operation. They will give a tranquilizer before you go in and it will be over in no time. Think about how good you will feel without these health issues!
