please take into account that im 26 and single. how much is the gov. taking from me?

As others have said, check your W-2 or a pay statement. There are far to many factors that affect tax withholding to answer this question. Even if we knew them, taxes are not the only thing withheld from your check.

You need to look at your W-2's. Box 1 is your gross income. Box 2 shows how much the Feds withhold in taxes. Box 17 shows how much your state takes in taxes (if any).

The net is what's left after taxes. I think you might have indicated these backwards in your question. Gross - taxes = net.

Depending on the state you like in I would estimate around 22,000 a year. This isn't including any insurance, 401K or other benifits that you may have. Also, it depends on how many exemptions you claim on your taxes but my estimate is based on zero.

check your paystub. State taxes differ per state, and other factors play into this as well, so we could all guess - but I'm thinking that's not what you're wanting?!

Check your W-2s. After insurance, 401K, taxes, etc, it usually ends up being about 20% being taken out of your check

you are probably making around $45,000 gross. i figured approx. 30% total withholdings from your salary.
