I hate cold apples

Put them in the fridge, but into a fridge with not very low temperature. Also not too close to the frezing section. Also, if they are not covered with that glossy stuff, don't leave them in fridge longer than... a week, I'd say.

I'm glad you got lots of good advice.

Here's a general rule of thumb. If the fruit is generally grown in tropical areas, then you do not refrigerate. These include bananas, mango, guava, etc.

If the fruits are grown in colder regions, then refrigeration can help them last a bit longer. These would include apples, pears, figs, etc.

Refrigeration can actually ruin the taste and texture of some fruits. Oranges, for instance can lose their juiciness if kept cold too long.

It's not necessary, especially if you're planning on eating them fairly soon. However putting apples in the fridge does help preserve the pectin. Place them in a perforated plastic bag to stop them drying out. If you don't have them in a perforated bag then open the bag once a week to let out the gases.

No need to put them in the fridge.

Depends on whether or not you are wanting them to ripen faster or not. If you do want them to ripen leave out, if you are wanting them to stay close to the way they are now put them in the fridge.

Apples store best in a cool moist place. So yes, your refrigerator would be good as long as it doesn't freeze stuff.
