The first time you get your braces on your teeth will be very sore for about a week. You will want to eating very soft food. The less chewing you do the better. Every 6-8 weeks you will go back in for adjustments, your teeth will only be sore for about a day or two. Rubber bands help with the movement of your teeth. Please wear them as the doctor instructs you to do. If you do not wear the rubber bands it will take ALOT longer to achieve the results you want. I am a Registered Dental Assistant and I had braces for 2 years. The small amount of pain is well worth the award of a beautiful smile. And please brush and FLOSS them daily. You would hate to have been in braces for a few years just to go back to the dentist for fillings.

It doesn't hurt when they actually put them on, but you will be sore for a few days afterward and each time they adjust or tighten them...you can take some ibuprofen (under the supervision of an adult) to help with the discomfort. As far as blisters, the office will most likely give you wax that you can put over the braces initially...this prevents the metal from rubbing against the inside of your mouth...Don't fret...it's worth it! I hope your smile turns out beautiful!

I got my braces on and still have them! Trust me it doesn't hurt a bit. You shouldn't get any sorts of blisters. The only thing that hurts is after u have them on for a few hours, but that can be treated with Telonyl or Advil. You might get a canker or two but they only last a few days not even.
-Good luck and Don't get yourself worked up over nothing.

Yes, it hurts a little and you do get cuts on your gums. Usually the dentust will give you wax to put on the sharp area of the braces to reduce this from happening. Once you get used to having the braces on, the cuts will not happen as often.

It is a little uncomfortable getting them on, and afterwards, for about a week, they hurt, and cut your cheeks. I have only had mine on for a week and am almost used to them now! =)
