Of course it is okay for you to date outside of your race, in fact many people will argue that it is helpful for our society's progression toward acceptance and tolerance.

There are a couple of things that I would recommend that you consider:

1) Be cautious of those whose beliefs, values, or even economic level is very different than yours. Certainly you can have a meaningful and loving relationship with someone who is different in these ways, but at the same time, these issues will become more prominent as you become more serious. Dating someone who believes the same things as you allows you to fall back on your similarities when times get rough; if you are very different, those differences may just become further ammunition in your disagreement. (It's also important to mention that this is true of relationships in which the couple is from the same race, but I thought it was important to mention here.)

2) Don't make race an issue in the relationship. If you continue to dwell on the fact that you are from different races, others will as well. What may begin as a small detail in your relationship can grow out of proportion if you attribute any of your differences to race.

Other than those specific things, the standard dating "dos and don'ts" apply: listen, be open-minded, always be honest and upfront, never withhold from your partner, etc.

I wish you good luck, and I hope that your friends and family are supportive of your relationship! :)

Of course it's okay! There are possibly going to be cultural differences between people of different races that might affect a dating relationship, but a person's race by itself should have absolutely no bearing.

Yes. There is nothing sinful about that at all. But racism certainly is a sin. I think it's so sad that Americans think trashing the planet, sex before marriage, greed and abortion are ok but then get so offended by an interracial couple. We live in a country of babies.

I think as black women, we tend to think that dating outside of our race is betrayal, we have been limiting ourselves. Black men do it all of the time and they don't ask Yahoo answers to see if its alright! I now believe that you should definitely give people a chance no matter what race it is. Sometimes we try to hard to get what we need and want out of someone who is not willing or able to give it. Love does not have a color.

no , despite what some people might say, it is not ok. you ruin a race everytime you date out of your race and if you have a kid , it's worse. that kid ends up getting teased at school and he/she ends up feeling lost, plus more hatred is spread towards you for dating outside your race, stick to your own race!!!

Race has nothing to do with relationships if you are a wise, open-minded person. Date whom you like because you like the person and want to have a close relationship. If other friends do not like that dating, then maybe you might consider broadening your friendship circle to people who relalize that race has nothing to do with the quality of the person.

I wouldn't even consider dating anyone who is not a member of the human race.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with it as I do date outside my race, and will more likely than not marry outside my race. My dad, on the otherhand, does not believe it is okay.

Of course it is. Just be prepared to face some difficulties from those who have a problem with it. Be strong, and marry the person you love without factoring in the color of their skin, hair or eyes. Hold your heads high and face the world together.

The only people that seem to have a problem with interracial dating are the older generations (it just wasn't done in their times) and bigots. Really, why does it matter? Most people today would have no problem with it.
