If your bank statement includes copies of the checks, then that will suffice for like a charitable contribution.
If for business purposes, you will have to prove it is business.

If you have a rent agreement, some companiess would accept the same if it is made on a stamp paper. Alternatively, instead of taking 12 separate receipts, you can take one combine receipt confirming that the total rent paid during the month is so much. regards, CA Sagar Jayawant

Even if the bank statement includes copies of your checks, it doesn't indicate what they were for. You could write a check to your church for a donation (deductible) or to buy a tape of last weeks sermon (non-deductible). The statement itself may not even say who the check was written to.

depending on whqat type of deduction it is. ie: gas for business. you will have to prove that it is solely for your business and not for leisure. if it's supplies then yes. you will need reciept backups. you do not have to send them in just for audit purposes
