Seems to be quite common with elderly women, My mother in law has a beard and so too does my mother now I think about it.

I'm in my early 40's and have been getting a bit of facial hair since my mid 30's. It's hormonal and most women do get a few whiskers in the 30's. Mine are blond and very few so I just tweezer them out but I know some people who get darker and heavier growth. I can't imagine why some women don't remove it immediately but some women don't seem to worry about it.

It's hormonal imbalances - after the menopause women have less oestrogen and so the hormone balance is out. We all have male hormones to some extent and so there is a higher proportion of these - therefore, facial and body hair often appears stronger.
Also, as you get older the texture of your skin becomes finer and therefore hair is more clearly visible.

I'm only 34 and I'm sick of face fuzz and need to get the whole shebang waxed every other month. God only knows what I'll be like when I'm 80 odd; Chewbacca springs to mind. I'm not alone on this, I've had chats with other female friends who are similarly sick of having a tache and random long hairs growing wherever. Doesn't the future look great for us girls eh?

Yes! But we all already have it.

As you age your body produces less estrogen and more testosterone. Your facial hair starts to change color and texture any time your hormones are changed. Age is a BIG factor on your hormones, but also pregnant women and women trying to get pregnant taking hormone medications are also noticeably harrier in the face area.

Enjoy growing old!!

Yes they do. Everyone has 2 sexual hormones running through your body -- testosterone and estrogen. Men have more testosterone and women have more estrogen. When a woman goes through menopause she loses her ability to make a lot of estrogen. The testosterone in your body is the hormone that makes the hair on a man's face grow and for women on your legs, underarms, etc. When there is more testosterone than estrogen in a woman's body, the tendency for that woman to grow facial hair is high.

Yes my grandma has facial hair and it is just gross. It could just be that they do not wax anymore and it just keeps growing and growing or it could just be something that happens later in life where you sprout more hair. Maybe it happens to make up for all the lost hair on the top of their heads because most ladies hair tends to really thin and they lose it when they are older.

Sweetie, It's not just old ladies that have hair on their face. It's a lot of women that have this going on with them, and it can occur in your early adult years too. Most women do something about it like waxing their faces or tweezing the hairs, and so on. You would be really surprised to know most of us females suffer from this as well. We just do something about it.

I think it has something to do with hormones that make older women grow facial hair. Some women do have it their whole life though, and have to wax, bleach or epilate etc to get rid of or hide it.
