My son has ear damage and will be ongoing. He now needs hearing aids that are not covered by insurance and the problem is ongoing. I want the best future for my son and the doctors negligance is effecting my sons future potential. He has a 3rd grade reading level but progress is being effected severely. We are looking for other court cases etc that might help my son.

Even if he was jaundiced lights aren't always needed. They only use those if a baby's bilirubin levels are really really high. Can you get a copy of his records from the hospital he was born? Maybe have another dr review his levels and see if they would have used the lights on him or not. My second baby was a little jaundiced at birth and he didn't need lights. He's 2 now and just fine, even advanced, developmentally.

Hi there !
As already answered by tabithap, "phototherapy" is not always required in the so-called "physological jaundice", which is present at birth. It is required when the bilirubin levels are very high..
Maybe a second opinion based on the hospital records, may give you more information..like ..was it "physiological jaundice" / "haemolytic jaundice" ? Blood group of the parents and the child ? treatment was adequate/ inadequate ?
But medico-legal case after 6 years ?? possible ??
Check this also with the 2nd consultant please !
best wishes !

The same thing happen to my brothers daughter, she had jaundice and the doctors didn't catch it or something, she wasn't drinking her formula, and wasn't gaining any weight, she know has this itching that she can't get rid of she is only 5 1/2 months, my 4 month old son is way bigger then she is. It makes me mad because my brother has to contently take her to the doctors, this is something they should have caught before they let the baby go home after she was born, so I fill you pain.
