Pizza isn't square because its less efficient. Making a square pizza is both time consuming, because you need to measure and shape it properly and wasteful because you have to cut off spare dough from the edges if its uneven. Now a circular pizza works because of the relatively easy process of tossing it in the air to stretch it. Making use of centrifical force to do your work is very efficient way of operating.

The boxes are square because of the ease of square boxes. They can be stored anywhere, especially folder and I think they protect the pizza better because you figure most of the time, they hit stuff against the corners where there is no pizza inside. They do make round boxes, like with hats or chocolates, but they are much more expensive to produce and harder to store, therefore making it inefficient.

Efficiency. What an excellent thing. Who would have thought the laws of thermodynamics would actually come in handy.

probably because a round pizza and a square pizza can fit into a square box, but a square pizza could not fit easily into a round box, thus, it's more economical to use one shape that can fit both shapes of pizza, in other words the square box.

Cause it's alot easier to make a squared box than to make a round one. And easier to make a round pizza than a squared one.

because boxes are folded from flat stock by machines. The complexity of creating a round box for something so quickly discarded has little economic incentive.

Take some sheets of heavy cardboard and try to fold them correctly into a defined circle shaped box.....
That will answer your question.
Plus, most pizza boxes start as die-cut flat sheets that get shaped later.....less storage room.
