War is an unfortunate fact of life. It has existed since the beginning of time and will continue to the end of time. Peace is a noble aspiration we should all strive for, but the idea that we will ever have it denies basic human nature. Most of us cannot get along with our neighbors and co-workers, much less the rest of the world. There will always be another ideology or someone who is perceived as having more. Because of this there will always be someone willing to kill for the idea or to obtain whatever commodity. I am sorry, your position is noble, but naive none the less.
Edit: You absolutely have the right to feel whatever way makes you feel comfortable and there are many people in the world who share your opinion. Just because certainly realities exist in the world does not mean that we cannot dream of a better world where people strive to achieve the concepts of good decent behavior and benevolence towards their fellow man. We should never stop believing that these concepts are possible because when we do all hope is dead.

What is war? War is the last resort at the bargaining table when
all other possible negotiations have reached a tough impasse.
Usually at the the roots of any war, there are issues of trade, or who gets what, when and where.
In the ancient days, the Mongol hordes would sweep through a village or town, pillage and plunder (like a swarm of locusts going through a wheat field) and through blood and conquest go on to raid and plunder other villages that fall in their path.
Genghis Kahn's master plan was to absorb all his enemies, and
if they didn't comply, off with their heads, and do other nasty
atrocities.
In over 2,000 years of Christian history there have only been 230 years of "peace" or something close to it.
Much of warring is attributed to religious differences, Islam vs.
Catholism, vs Semitic beliefs (Jewish faith)
Islamic differences began in the 7th century, in the Middle East,
and ever since, if you don't become a Muslim, you are an infidel,
and if you don't conform, you will lose an arm, have your wife raped an murdered in front of you, kill your kids, hold hostage
all those people who matter to you, the list is endless.
These concepts are part of why we fight the al-Qaeda, the
Taliband, Hammas, and Hezbollah of Iran, more recently.
War has no ethics, or morals, never has, as in the end, everyone
loses, there are no real victors, as history portrays.
The United Nations has been watching on the side lines as the
super powers position themselves for more adequate control
in the geo-political world picture.
Namely Russia, China, India, the United States, Canada, Mexico,
and all the lesser nations all have a stake in owning a piece of
OIL! Thats the major commodity on the hot seat, that all the
free nations of the world vie for.
So, it may be said that war springs from the disagreements of
nations who don't think they get what they want, or cultural
differences, communism vs capitalism, religious differences,
(thats why the Puritans escaped England, to avoid religious
persecution.)
Colonization & domination, King George III and his insatiable
appetite to control the colonies (the new world) and what
ensued was the American Revolutionary War.
The country chose to live free or die, and thats still true to
this day.
Another reason for war, is other countries who have large amounts of poor indigenous people, see all the wealth and
high quality of living that all the US citizens enjoy, so they
want the same things, instead of constantly being hungry, with
no electricity(power) no farming and agriculture, no health services, no sanitation programs in place, no city/county services available at all, No federal government programs available, either.
There are UN programs that help out developing nations, but they
don't go far enough with their outreach, or the country's politics
is one of turmoil and unrest, and this includes war lords who steal
and commandeer all donated offerings, food, blankets, etc.
The governments turns over like a revolving door, so there is no government stability.
Whats this have to do with war? Plenty, when you are forced to go without the necessaries (food, clothing shelter) you will do or follow most anyone who has a plan to make your life a little more
easier, and less painful to live on a daily basis.
I'm not in favor of any kind of war, but I do favor the late former President of the United States Ronald Reagan and his credo:
"Peace through strength" right idea at the time, and still is, as far
as I'm concerned, fact is I wish he was still in office, to deal with these horrible and ugly Islamo-Marxists-radicals, jihadists, they
really are the scourge of mankind, one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse.
As long as we have these incorrigibles that live and influence
others in their sphere, especially young people, this cultural war will go on for years, while the best of our young men and women
sacrifice their lives for what? And at a cost of: to date over seven hundred billion dollars have been spent carry out mission: Iraqi freedom, at this rate, combined with the national debt, and the accrued interest, the USA may be knocking at the door of bankruptcy, because not all the nation's people are working, many aren't.
There are more historical facts to cite, but for now, this is my snapshot to answer your question, otherwise we would be here
until Christmas of 2007.
Thats my message, good luck

The basic problem to your belief is that we can get along.
That's just not the world we live in.
We are ALL OF US selfish by nature.
Don't belive me?
How many children to you have to SHOW to be selfish? One of a kids first words (after 'NO") is "MINE".
Now, translate that in the adult world and you can see where I'm headed.
We want MY money, MY land, MY country, etc.
The only hope for mankind is to die to "self" and be made alive in Christ.
We can deceive ourselves and say that we can all make a better place for ourselves. The hippies did that in the 60's/70's and didn't succeed. As a matterof fact, lots of them became the very people they were protesting against.
OR we can admit or sins, realize that we can't save ourselves and submit to Christ.
Our choice.
Any other option is just stalling for time!

How do you propose we get along with ppl who hijack jets and fly them into civilian structures, murdering 1000s in cold blood?
You can't be 23 years old and still be naive enough to think if everyone would just sit down and talk that these problems could be solved. That was the reasoning behind the founding of the U.N. and the world has only gotten worse and more dangerous in that 60 years.

I do agree, but "just get along" doesn't work. There are deep-seated disagreements over land, religion, power struggles, and so much more. You really can't just gloss it over with a "get over it, and just get along."
When you were young and fighting with siblings, I would venture to guess your mother told you and your siblings to stop and just get along. Did it work? Even if it worked once, did it ever stay that way long? Humans are basically the same, if they feel slighted they won't stop until they feel justice is done. All the more so when you factor in the power most countries' leaders have at their disposal, making them feel all important. I wish it did work like you ask, but it won't for a long time.

You're not the only one who feels that way. Unfortuately. It's a nice idea in theory, but it falls apart when you consider any human population of more than 1.
Peace, like freedom, is not something that just happens. It must be worked for. And it requires preparing for war. This has been part of human nature for millenia.

Well we'll never all get along, because culture differences, faiths, beliefs, rules, political systems. We're all to different to live a life on the same planet without clashes.
Whatever happens there will always be one person who believes differently. If we all lived in peace, eventually, one day, someone would disrupt it.

Since ancient, all animals, when they will need a bigger space due to population grew, they will start to invade on our animals space, and war started...this is form of survival. Today, there are human being whose have become more stupid, as the reason of war is no more only due to survival.....religion, racist, terrorism, the more advance human is, the more they forget the nature of survival.
