i would discuss this with your local fire department. they will want to be notified and possilby on hand just in case. i saw a small brush fire (the same thing you describe wanting to do) get out of control very fast and they guy just couldn't stay ahead of it. the fd had to come and help him, and meanwhile he lost many of his christmas trees

Contact the local fire department regarding any plans for burning overgrowth in your area. Also, contact the US Forest Service regarding rules and regulations for use of fire in environmental control. They may also look into doing the burning for you since they have had more experience in that field (no pun intended). Using fire should be handled with extreme caution at all times, so professional assistance will more than likely be required.
