Spaying is generally inexpensive. Call your local animal shelter and ask who they recommend -- they normally really care about animals (and so, will recommend a vet that also does) and they're likely to recommend one of the least expensive ones, too. Some shelters will even help you with the cost.

I have a rescue kitten whom I found with a fractured vertebrae, two broken paws and a shattered pelvis, not to mention lots of other more minor injuries (he was thrown out the window of a moving vehicle on the highway -- how can people DO things like that???). Working with my local shelter, I'll be paying a grand total of $75 for the extensive vet care, all shots for the first year, neutering, AND a year's supply of food.

So as you can see, shelters care enough and have the resources to really help you.

Anderson Animal Shelter on Rt. 31 (LaFox St.) in South Elgin.

Their cost is lower then anywhere else around, but because of that it's usually a good month or two to get in. Call now and make your appointment as soon as possible.

I have been familiar with Anderson since I was a child.

South Elgin, BTW is about 40 miles west of Chicago. 90 west to Rt. 31 and head south for maybe 5 miles or so.

Locate your local humane shelter. Most give coupons or give rebates to those who get their pets fixed.
