Apparrently not. We used an Englishman to interpret sign language and he told us that he was unable as the other person used Irish sign language - a far more complicated form......

No. Sign language is different in each country and also different in each region. There's one Sign language that is being used and understood by those who use it. A chinese could use that sign language to talk with a french and both would understand eachothers, but that sign language is usually used during international meetings for deaf people and laso deaf olympics.

No. Sign language is different in each country and also different in each region. Thats why we refer to it as "ASL" American Sign lanuage.
