Absolutely not. Not as an evidenced, scientific theory, no. As a religious doctrine, ALSO no. I don't support indoctrinating children into mythology. I also certainly don't support teaching Creationism, or Intelligent Design as it's now called, in public school. Science class is for SCIENCE, and I.D. has been ruled to be UNscientific quite recently in a court of law.
So no, don't teach it as science and don't teach it as fact and don't brainwash kids with it. Basically, don't deliberately lie to kids, that's what I say.

I think it's important for even children being reared as atheists to understand that many of their neighbors believe that the universe was created in six days by a supernatural Creator. I want my children to have that knowledge so they can converse with their peers and understand what they're talking about. I would present it to them as a creation myth, one of many that have been believed in history, of course. I don't think Creationism should be taught in science classes ever, but I'd favor it being included with discussions of other beliefs in a social studies comparative religions course.

It's always a good idea for atheists to teach their children about other religions. How else are they going to know what you want them to know unless YOU teach it to them. When they get in school, they are likely going to have friends who are religious, and they will come home with confusion as to why they were not told these things. 6 or 7 is a good age to start talking about creation myths, and other religion issues. Just dont talk so big that they cant understand what you are saying.

Yes, I think all children should be taught about about the theory of creationism and it's flaws. Why send them in to the world as ignorant adults?

I am not opposed to the teaching of creation, as long as the story of evolution be taught as well. And as long as they are both explained in a "here is one view, here is another" type of way so the child can learn both and make up their own minds as they grow older.
I am completely opposed if it is simply telling them that one story or the other is the absolute truth and the other is all fiction. It isn't our place to brainwash children. It is our place to teach them the best we can what we do know, and help them along the path to finding themselves.

Evolution and the first portion of Genesis pretty much say the same thing- darkness, light, water, plants, animals, us. So, I don't really see what the big argument is. I don't think that creationism should be taught in school. That is what church is for. And btw, religion involves FAITH, which is not proof, it is belief. Faith is the ultimate leap into the dark, so anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who tells you that their faith is proof cannot be telling the truth. It is simply their belief.

uppps, i am a christian, i decided to hope the fence, sorry. Why would a atheist teach there children creationism? As for a christian the child should be taught from the womb and God should always be mentioned around them, so they can build a firm trust in God. And by the way why is it always the people like "indecent exposure" and kooks that always try to make things that are good seems like lies and foolishness. You should also let you child only choose one, creation or evolution because in the end someone who doesn't know who they are is a very destructive personality.

They can hear about the story, no problem, no matter what age, but they should know that all the scientific evidence is for evolution and that the Genesis story is just a story from a religious scripture. I knew about both when I was a small child, and never had a doubt that evolution is correct.

Why would you ask an Atheist if creation should be taught? That makes no sense. The obvious answer would be no. It is no schools place to preach to our children or to teach religious beliefs unless you chose to send them to a religious school. It is the families responsibility to do so if they chose. The gvt allready oversteps its boundaries enough. I dont want someone brainwashing my child.
