I'm thinking of puting my 2 y.o. male Pembroke Welsh Corgi up for stud. What would be the best way to contact reputable breeders? Also what would be a reasonable stud fee to ask for a dog that is very close to the breed standard with an impressive pedigree?

Miriam and GSDOTCh are correct -- if your goal is truly to offer your dog at stud to reputable breeders, you will only catch their interest if you show him and prove him worthy of breeding.

You should also take the time to have his hips certified free of dysplasia via OFA or PennHip, and his eyes cleared of genetic disease by a veterinary opthalmologist. Have you researched his pedigree? Do you know whether monorchidism or autoimmune problems are prevalent in his lines?

There are certifications reputable breeders will require, and questions they will ask.

Also, if your dog is, as you say, very close to the breed standard and with that impressive pedigree, you no doubt got him from a reputable breeder. Ask your dog's breeder to help you in your endeavor.

A reputable breeder is going to be choosing their own stud dog - based on his winning record in the show ring perhaps, or a dog who's pedigree fits with the pedigree of their female. A pedigree is only impressive if it's got qualities being looked for.

I would place a ad in the paper or locally around pet stores . remember that it will depend on the AKC of your dog and also the back breeding, if we have a dog with finished parents and a awesome back ground make sure that you have this info available and your stud fee will go up. Most of the time this is something that you and the owner of the mommy dog will be able to talk about and work out. Sometimes the sire will take the pic of the litter in exchange for the fee! Good luck and happy puppying!

Check the Kennel Club for reputable customers. What about a stud fee consisting of you get the "pick of the litter". You get to choose one pup for yourself from each litter your dog sires. You can then either sell the pups or keep the ones you want. It is a very common practice in our area.

Most people want a good stud. Consider these questions:
Is he AKC?
Is he OFA?
Is he finished?
How much would you charge as a stud fee?
Can you grantee a healthy stud all the time?
Would you thoroughly look over the bit ches papers and pedigree before allowing your dog to mate?
Are you positive you dog doesn't have any sexually transmitted diseases?
Dose your dog have any types of genes carried?
Has their been any problems with past studs in his line?
If you have doubts about any of this I strongly suggest fixing him or checking on all of it.

The best way to attract the notice of reputable breeders is to show your dog. If he is as good as you say, they will come to you. They will know his pedigree by looking at his parents names in the catalog. They will see his quality in the ring.

particular whilst she's interior the particular warmth cycle, she will mate with any and all adult males prepared - meaning the doggies could have a various father for each of them. Why might you enable your male to reproduce? He must be neutered if he's not a real high quality practice canines. and despite if he replaced into, he must be examined for genetic ailments, OFA cleared first. He must be bred to in basic terms yet another actual high quality lady. So because he's between the fathers of those domestic canines, are you taking the duty of the care and the fee of them?

You need to neuter your dog is what you NEED to do. You have no basis for breeding. Intact males can develop some pretty annoying behaviors, such as excessive marking, mate-hunting, escaping, and aggression. Corgis need to herd and run and release their energies in a good way, not an annoying way. Studding males is just as bad as breeding females.
We do not need any more puppies, thanks.

It's funny that you say "reputable breeders" in your question. If you were a reputable breeder, you would know that answer to your question. Put a championship on your dog, then the people will call.
