They're good but really high-fat, calling for 7 tablespoons of oil. Can I use anything else instead?

The oil can be reduced and you can use a more healthy oil such as olive or canola. Next time, cut it in half (3 -4 tbs). If it is OK, try cutting in half again or use 5-6 tbs. if it burns. Using apple sauce helps keep the moisture in cakes, It might work here, too.

Use a search engine like www.ask.com. You can use applesauce in some recipes in place of the oil but I'm not sure how much

Cut it down by half and the recipe should be okay
