Ok, I am not kidding here. I have a 4 1/2 year old daughter. I was raised in foster care so I was never really disciplined any way accept "groundings" which werent that big a deal. My pastor as well as my pediatrician have given me some suggestions on discipline with her and spanking her was one of them. Well I have tried the whole time out and taking toys away stuff and its not helping. I was never spanked and honestly dont really know how to do it safely. Any advice? ( please do not respond if your just gonna say DONT SPANK)

3-4 swats on the rear with the palm of your hand. If your hand stings just a little, you're fine, if you hurt worse than that you did it too hard.

Why would you hit your baby? It teaches nothing but fear of reprisal. If you were never hit ( I was not either and have never raised a hand to my 12 yr old son in his life) then YOU KNOW there are non-violent ways of disciplining. Kids can try your patience but if you think spanking is going to prevent a child from screaming her head off think again because she will scream louder and you will just feel guilty about it.

I know you said that people shouldn't answer "don't spank," but don't spank. You may have a complete stranger turn you in to CPS and you will then have a boat load of trouble. One swat on the but can lead CPS to take away your kids.

my dad is a child abuser so i do disagree with spanking, DO NOT HIT HER ANY WHERE BUT HER BUTT AND DONT HIT HER HARD...SHES TO YOUNG, since shes that young just ground her from everything and make her sit and face a wall or corner with nothing to do, she has to learn but u dont have to be violent, kids make mistakes and at that age she dont really know what shes doing wrong, but im sure as long as u dont abuse her then u will do fine.
