Why must you generalize about Americans? There are ignorant people everyone, but just because you've come into contact with some ignorant Americans doesn't mean all of us are. I've been to Canada many times, most frequently to Windsor, Ontario which is right across the border from Detroit. Never once saw an igloo while I was there, nor when I visited Toronto or Montreal. ;) I plan on attending the Canadian GP in 2008, and I'm quite sure it won't be cold in June. ;)

Where did you get that information? Some people (not just Americans) think Eskimos live in igloos. This is perpetuated in cartoons and other silly sitcoms. So, it gives the wrong idea.
Those of us living on or near the Great Lakes know about cold. So, we know what kind of weather Canadians have.

I have been to way up north in Saskatchewan to literally the end of the road, where there is very little soil---mostly trees and rocks. I never saw any igloos there! Of course, this was in the summer and it was very pleasant. It was mostly an Indian town, and they all lived in houses.
I learned the Eskimos live in Igloos near the Arctic circle and eat blubber! LOL And that probably isn't true either!

Um...I don't know any American who thinks that. Do you think all Texans herd cattle and ride horses to school? Sadly, some stereotypes last, but I've never heard anyone in my life say that Canadians lived in igloos........ Last I heard, that was an Eskimo thing....and I don't equate Canadians to Eskimos. Sorry!

I am about to take offense at your sweeping generality.
Why do Canadians think all Americans ride horses, rope cattle, carry guns, travel in wagon trains and fight Indians on a daily basis?
I have been to your country, I have met your people and aside from one of the more Moronic Governments I have ever encountered in my world travels, there is nothing wrong with anything north of the border.
WOW, I may have heard it all now.

I used to live in Northwestern Ontario, and the people who lived there told me that Americans would sometimes show up in July with their full winter gear, expecting there to be lots of snow.
In answer to the question, I suppose some Americans haven't mastered their geography.

No, no, no. Canada seems to be much colder than most parts of the US (thanks to the fact that you are located North of us) but igloos and Canadians? That's news to me. Igloos and Eskimos, sure....but not canucks.

never heard of that one...now if you had said Alaskans...then maybe. but I think there are enough movies out there that respresent Alaskans and Canadians as more than igloo dwellers and frozen people.

I thought you all up north lived in houses just like we do. If I remember, you have 4 seasons just a bit colder in the winter. The northern areas of your country get bunches colder than most of the U.S.
