why don't you try some highlights instead. it can drastically change your appearance by adding depth to your color and can appear to really change the color. plus, it looks more natural. yeah, any kind of color you put on your hair is damaging. those are chemicals in there. but, highlighting is less damaging because you don't put it all over your hair. i recommend going to the salon to have it done. i wouldn't try this one at home.

For a temporary color change, I would suggest Sebastian Colourshines. It is a color "rinse".
Color rinses are semi-permanent. Instead of changing your physical hair structure, the rinses just add color on top of your current hair color.
If your hair has not been processed (no past colorations, bleaches, perms or relaxers) then the color will eventual fade away. Color rinses also add shine to your hair as well.
Many women use "clear" rinses just help add shine to their hair without changing the structure and color of their hair.
However, if you want a permanent color, I would suggest getting it done professionally. If you want to lighten your hair color, be sure to tell the stylist that you DO NOT want to use any products that contain bleach or peroxide. Tell your stylist that you want to add color ON TOP of your hair. Many stylist will use product that contain peroxide to help lighten your hair and which can damage your hair.
HAVE FUN!!!

What was wrong with your natural hair color. Constantly changing it's color is obviously not good for it. If you are Indian, was your original color black? Most Indian women I know have long thick shiny healthy black hair. If that's what you had before, why so bent on changing it?

Get some honey/ caramel colored highlights..... go to a salon and get it done. But beware.... hair coloring IS damaging to hair. I got highlights and my hair is very dry but they have almost grown out.. i will never get them again.... but if your hair is healthy and it looks great for a couple monthes to a year... get it done. Don't color it completely.. u will get a gross reddish color no matter what.

i am also an indian and my suggestion to you is to stop the idea to colour your hair. i think that indians are known for their shiny black hair. so dont be artificial.
i hope you will be natural.
but even if you wanna colour your hair, try copper brown. it suits on most of indian faces.
